Shawn Boehringer

Shawn Boehringer is the Executive Director of Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania, Inc., which provides civil legal services to the low-income populations of Bucks, Chester, Delaware, and Montgomery Counties. He was previously Chief Counsel at Maryland Legal Aid from 2009-2018, directing the substantive work and service delivery of the firm, and has practiced in three other civil legal aid programs, including Legal Aid Service of Broward County in Fort Lauderdale from 2000-2009, during which time he held several positions, including staff attorney with the Senior Citizens Law Project, supervising attorney for the housing and consumer units, Project Director for the HIV/AIDS Law Project, and Director of Advocacy. From 1997-2000, he was a housing staff attorney with Legal Services of Greater Miami. He began his legal career in 1993 with the Appalachian Research and Defense Fund of Kentucky (“Appalred”), where he represented clients in 5 rural high poverty rate counties in eastern Kentucky. Shawn received a prestigious Skadden Fellowship to support his work at Appalred. He also currently serves as Board President for the Florida Health Justice Project. Shawn holds a J.D. from the State University of New York at Buffalo (1993), and he graduated with a B.A. cum laude from Gettysburg College (1990), where he majored in history and religion. He is currently a member of the Kentucky, Florida, Maryland and Pennsylvania bars.
