What's New at MIE

The Management Information Exchange (MIE) Board of Directors is extremely pleased to announce Kesha James will be MIE’s new Executive Director starting June 1, 2022.

Since 2013, Kesha has served as Deputy Director for Advocacy at Legal Aid of Southeastern Pennsylvania (LASP), overseeing the program’s legal services delivery system and impact advocacy while supporting all aspects of senior management. As supervisor for LASP’s managing attorneys, she has implemented substantive practice affinity groups and redesigned advocacy systems, while also implementing a robust, accredited training program. Previously, she served as Pro Bono Director and staff attorney for LASP’s mortgage foreclosure and predatory lending prevention unit.

Kesha received her bachelor’s in Political Science from Florida A&M University and received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Law School. After law school, Kesha spent a few years in the civil litigation department of a Philadelphia law firm before following her passion into the public interest sector by joining LASP in 2005.

Originally from Columbia, South Carolina, Kesha now resides in Philadelphia with her husband, Pastor Cean James, and their three teenage sons.

MIE Board Chair César Torres welcomes Kesha’s commitment to MIE’s mission of supporting program leadership and managers to promote excellence in the legal aid community. “MIE’s board is truly fortunate that at this important time of transition, Kesha has stepped up to lead MIE.”

“MIE’s trainings and quarterly Journal have been an integral part of my own management skill building and professional development, so I am very excited to join the MIE team,” said Kesha. “I am inspired by the dedicated MIE staff, board and volunteers, and I look forward to working closely with everyone to continue helping legal services programs innovate and excel.”
