Staff Attorney

Description: 

Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC) seeks an attorney to support its Partnering for Native Health Medical-Legal Partnership Project (MLP) in Kodiak and to address the civil legal needs of low-income Alaskans residing on Kodiak.

The attorney will handle direct service cases, impact litigation, engage in outreach, and handle some administrative functions for the MLP. The position requires excellent written and verbal advocacy skills, and the ability to both work independently and collaborate with others and a willingness to travel occasionally to remote villages without standard accommodations. A successful applicant will have a commitment to serving low-income communities and the ability to communicate effectively cross-culturally.

Requirements: 

Applicants must be admitted to practice law in Alaska or admitted to practice in another state and eligible for an Alaska Bar Rule 43 waiver.
