Managing Attorney (Consumer, Housing, Public Benefits)
Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. (SALA) is hiring a Managing Attorney to work in its Tucson Office. SALA serves 9 counties in Arizona and 11 Indian Reservations. The Managing Attorney will be required to undertake representation in a variety of civil cases in state and federal court as well as Chapter 13 Bankruptcies. The Managing Attorney will also be required to supervise day-to-day operations of the Public Benefits, Consumer and Housing Unit (CHPB). The CHPB Unit consists of four attorneys and one support staff.
- Applicants must have at least five years of legal experience and be a member of the Arizona Bar or pass the next exam; applicants licensed two years in another jurisdiction may practice by special rule.
- Applicants must exhibit a high degree of sensitivity to the problems of the low-income community and should be able to work with low-income and community groups. They should have initiative, good communication skills and the ability to work well in a multi-cultural setting.
- Applicants should be knowledgeable in the area of general civil practice on behalf of the low-income community and specifically in the areas of housing, social security and bankruptcy law,
