Grants and Resource Development Manager

Gulfcoast Legal Services (GLS), a non-profit legal aid organization headquartered in St. Petersburg, FL, is seeking a motivated professional with excellent writing skills to oversee its grant writing and compliance functions.  The position also assists with budgeting and acts as liaison between GLS and funders. POSITION SUMMARY:

The Grants & Resource Development Manager is responsible for; grant writing (including government agencies, foundations and corporations), as well as fund development, donation solicitations, and general public relations.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research grant and resource opportunities through various channels; evaluates potential applicability of specific grants for agency use and makes referral for departmental consideration.
  • Interpret requests for proposals and funding guidelines from government agencies and foundations to determine if appropriate for the agency.
  • Work with relevant project staff to develop outlines, timelines, staffing and templates for grant proposals according to funding guidelines.
  • Write and edit grant proposal narrative, assist with preparation of application budgets, and ensure the successful, timely submission of grant applications.
  • Participate in grant technical training provided by funding agencies and keep abreast of changing grant standards and proposal guidelines.
  • Track grant proposals from development and submission to notification with regard to appropriate MOU’s, contracts, notification or rejection letters and budgets, includes ensuring all documentation is on file for auditing purposes.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with grant officers and donors.
  • Represent GLS at periodic advisory committee, coalition, and funder meetings.
  • Write and submit award nominations of staff, board members, and volunteers to various community groups.
  • Document funder data, grant outcomes/feedback, and historical findings in database/grant calendar for effective grants management and tracking.
  • Manage fundraising, stewardship, logistics and gift processing for the agency – including, but not limited to, prospect research, annual appeals, gift acknowledgements, etc.
  • Coordinate all direct mail and email communication to current and prospective donors.
  • Maintain GLS website and social media presence (i.e., blog, Facebook and Instagram).
  • Manage strategic communications for the agency, including press releases and media relations.
  • Produce monthly GLS e-newsletter.
  • Assist with strategic planning process.
  • Assist with Board development and cultivation.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the CEO

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written required.
  • Ability to deal professionally, courteously and efficiently with people.
  • Ability to plan, direct and coordinate activities; negotiate and administer contracts; work with commercial vendors, government agencies, community groups and other organizations as necessary; communicate effectively in both written and oral forms; exhibit independent judgment in the development, implementation and evaluation of plans, procedures and policies.
  • Ability to work on various projects with different priorities.
  • Ability to work overtime when required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Writing, Journalism, English, Public Administration, or another social services field required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated excellent writing ability required.
  • At least four years’ experience in grant writing
  • Experience in fundraising a plus
  • Annual continuing education/training.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, Visio, Adobe Pro, WordPress, and Constant Contact, and literate in use of basic database software and social media platforms.

Salary range starts at $51,000 DOE, plus medical, dental, and vision insurance; retirement matching; and generous paid time off and holidays. We currently offer working remotely 2-3 days per week, after your initial 90-day probationary period.
