VISTA Development Project Coordinator
For more than 50 years, LAF (formerly Legal Assistance Foundation) has provided free civil legal aid to people living in poverty in metropolitan Chicago. Each year LAF’s attorneys, volunteers, and staff help resolve legal problems, including domestic violence, consumer fraud, and unfair evictions. In addition to representing individuals in court and administrative hearings, we run community legal clinics, provide know-your-rights workshops, and work with community-based organizations to address emerging issues as well as persistent problems that affect low-income families. Our work impacts more than 40,000 people each year. Position: A VISTA serving as the Development Project Coordinator at LAF will work as part of the External Relations department to increase the agency’s capacity to provide free legal services by supporting its fundraising and marketing efforts. Responsibilities: With the assistance of the Associate Director of External Relations, manage daily donation processing, donor acknowledgement, donor database management, and reporting on donor data trends in LAF’s eTapestry donor database; develop and manage updates to LAF’s public website to bring in new donors and followers; provide support for fundraising events, including the LAF Young Professionals Board Autumn Affair; help with other departmental campaigns and events.
• Bachelor’s degree
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Special events planning experience preferred Term of Service: August 12, 2017 to August 11, 2018.
