The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) is the frontline law firm for low-income people in Los Angeles and is currently accepting applications for the position of Technical Services Associate. LAFLA seeks to achieve equal justice for poor and low-income people in greater Los Angeles. We change lives through direct representation, systems change, and community education

Examples of Duties:

  • Respond timely to customer inquiries via email, telephone or onsite;
  • Perform installation of hardware including computers, printers and phone;
  • Provide staff training on new computers, software, and printer equipment;
  • Provide end-user desktop support and troubleshooting in Windows environment;
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving internet connectivity, VPN, backup, hardware and software application, transport, and other network related issues remotely or at LAFLA offices;
  • Assist with providing technical support for LAFLA case management system
  • Maintain daily file-server and application server back-ups;
  • Maintain physical inventory of computers and software;
  • Assist in conceptualizing, designing and implementing new technical systems;
  • Assist in the development of IT policies and procedures; and
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in computer science or related field, or work experience in technical field(s) equivalent to a degree, Microsoft MCSE certification preferred
  • 3 – 5 years of IT support/help desk experience providing Tier 2 troubleshooting with a mostly Microsoft Windows-based corporate IT Environment including end-user support and training, and network environments
  • Ability to install and troubleshoot computer hardware and software, provide technical support to LAN, WAN, internet, and VOIP
  • Communicate effectively both in oral and written forms, including technical information to end-users, quickly learn and support new software programs and techniques;
  • Extensive knowledge of Dell compatible computers, printers, networks, including Windows and MacOS;
  • Extensive knowledge of various software packages, including MS Office (MS Word, Excel, and Microsoft Access), and digital voice/data communications;
  • Working knowledge of CMS LegalServer a Plus
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to follow through on assignments with minimal supervision; and
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
