Supervising Attorney, Coordinated Attorney Team

Description: 

Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA) is seeking 2 Supervising Attorneys to lead its Coordinated Attorney Team. The Supervising Attorneys are expected to work as part of a team overseeing and leading the case and impact work of a diverse group of lawyers.  The Coordinated Attorney Team is made up of 10+ attorneys who practice in a wide range of poverty law areas. 

Available Immediately.

Compensation: Salary $75,000- $115,000 - Commensurate with experience.  Excellent Benefits which include: choice of medical, dental, vision; life and disability insurance plans; 125 plan; 403(b) with employer contribution, loan reimbursement, bilingual pay supplement, sick and vacation pay, and 13 employer-paid holidays.

Duties and Responsibilities: Supervising Attorneys will function as a team to supervise a group of diverse attorneys providing assistance in immigration, housing, public benefits, consumer, housing and family law. The Supervising Attorneys will work collaboratively to manage grant compliance, ensure grant deliverables are met, coordinating program-wide advocacy efforts and partners with outside community groups and agencies. Frequent travel throughout southern California is required.

About NLSLA: Founded in 1965, NLSLA is the primary legal aid program serving the San Gabriel, San Fernando and Antelope Valleys. The NLSLA staff of 100+, including 45 lawyers, combats the immediate and long-lasting effects of poverty and expands access to health, opportunity and justice in Los Angeles’ diverse neighborhoods.
 

Requirements: 

Must be an attorney licensed to practice law in California with a minimum of five years’ experience in at least one of the following practice areas: immigration law, public benefits, family law, consumer or housing. Must have experience or the ability to supervisor and mentor a team of attorneys. The candidate must have a demonstrated passion and commitment to public interest law and prior experience serving low-income individuals and client groups, with a sensitivity to those in crisis including survivors of domestic violence. should possess strong research and organizational skills; the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing; the ability to oversee multiple projects; and well-developed analytical skills. Experience handling administrative hearings, court hearings and trials is preferred. Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
