Statewide Litigation Attorney

Description:

Alaska Legal Services Corporation is seeking an experienced attorney to support our litigation efforts.  ALSC has 35 lawyers in twelve locations around the state, working in a wide range of subject areas that affect our clients.  Position will mostly be based in Fairbanks, Juneau or Anchorage, but will consider other Alaskan locations.

ALSC is committed to achieving justice for all Alaskans through community-led advocacy.  Litigation is one way we advance our mission, and ALSC attorneys have supported many of the most important court decisions affecting low-income Alaskans over the last 55 years. The Statewide Litigation Attorney will manage all aspects of ALSC’s litigation practice, including collaborating with ALSC staff and community partners to determine litigation priorities, investigating and developing cases, coordinating litigation efforts among staff statewide, training and supporting staff attorneys in litigation, and overseeing ongoing litigation.

Salary is $54,576 to $77,688 per year, depending on experience.  Generous leave and benefits package, including partial reimbursement of relocation expenses, is available.

Requirements:

Applicants must have extensive experience litigating successfully in state and federal court and helping less experienced attorneys to do the same.  A background in public interest law is preferred but not required.  Applicants should either be admitted to practice law in Alaska or admitted to practice in another state and eligible for an Alaska Bar Rule 43 Waiver. Information on Bar Rule 43 can be found at http://www.alaskabar.org.

To Apply:

ALSC is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to building a culturally diverse workplace and strongly encourage women, persons of color, LGBTQ individuals, veterans, persons with disabilities, and persons from other underrepresented groups to apply. To apply, submit resume, writing sample, and list of three professional references to Leigh Dickey, Advocacy Director, at ldickey@alsc-law.org. Please include “Statewide Litigation Attorney” in the subject line.
