Staff Attorney/Assistant Supervising Attorney
Legal Services of New Jersey, an Edison-based statewide non-profit that provides free civil legal assistance to low income New Jerseyans, has an immediate opening as part of its PROTECT project, a major new initiative aiding victims of human trafficking. Applicants, depending on level of related experience will be considered for either Staff Attorney or Assistant Supervising Attorney.
PROTECT advises and represents victims of both sex and labor trafficking, primarily in immigration matters and engages in outreach and training throughout the state of New Jersey. PROTECT also works closely with law enforcement and other stakeholders on the state and federal level.

The attorney should have experience working with victims of trauma and background in working with low-income and vulnerable populations of diverse ethnicities and nationalities. Experience that will be highly valued includes work with victims of trafficking. The attorney should have general orientation to civil legal issues and a background or willingness to learn immigration law specifically T-visa and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status cases with a focus on victims who are currently in removal proceedings. Fluency in Spanish or another language is not required but highly desirable.
