Staff Attorney (Public Benefits Unit)
Legal Aid seeks a full-time staff attorney for its Public Benefits Unit to provide legal representation to people with public benefit issues regarding Medicaid, Food Stamps, and Temporary Assistance. The attorney will also handle cases involving unemployment benefits, stimulus issues and guardianships. The attorney in this position will represent clients in administrative, judicial and legislative forums. The attorney will also act as a point of contact with our community partners, may handle grant reporting, and perform other duties as assigned. This is a full-time position housed in our Central Office in Kansas City, Missouri.

Salary: $48,200 + depending on experience.

The qualified candidate must have the following: a Missouri law license; excellent written and oral communication skills; and a desire and commitment to assist in the delivery of high quality legal assistance to low income clients. Experience in Public Benefits, Administrative Law, and/or trial experience is preferred, but not required.
