Staff Attorney (Legal Assistance for Victims)

Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a full time staff attorney in the Warrensburg, Missouri office.  This position is focused primarily on family case issues, with a focus on alleviating the effects of domestic violence.  The Staff Attorney for Legal Assistance for Victims will represent victims of domestic violence in domestic cases, including dissolutions of marriage, custody, and orders of protection.  The position may also include additional case work in civil matters such as housing, public benefits, consumer rights, and other actions that will assist the survivor and his or her family in freeing themselves from their abuser.

This is a grant-funded position and there are outreach and documentation requirements.  The attorney will have immediate and direct responsibility for own case load.  Trial preparation and in-court appearances will be required along with administrative duties.  This attorney also is responsible for promoting positive and collaborative professional working relationships with agency partners.  This is a full-time position located out of the Warrensburg Missouri office, with the option to work remotely part of the week after a probationary period.

Salary:  $60,000 + DOE
