Staff Attorney & Adjunct Clinical Professor
Description:
Primary Responsibilities include:
• Supervise law students in a clinic setting
• Teach medical-legal partnership clinical course
• Represent clients in a variety of legal settings, including family law, housing, public benefits, and special education matters
• Actively participate in community outreach and education
• Build and maintain relationships with community partners
• Engage with the College of Law and its student body
Requirements:
Qualifications:
Required
• Licensed to practice law in Illinois or have requisite credentials for reciprocity
• Three years legal experience
• Experience supervising law students
Preferred
• Previous legal experience with poverty law
• Teaching experience, particularly in a clinic setting
• Strong commitment to social and racial justice
• Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work with people of diverse social, economic, and racial/ethnic backgrounds
• Ability to communicate with diverse audiences
• Excellent verbal, analytical, writing and organization skills
• Highly motivated and demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team
Special Working Conditions and Demands:
• Applicants must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and car insurance
• This is an exempt position and work requirements may periodically extend beyond 40 hours per week
• Applicant must have sufficient home internet bandwidth to attend court and administrative hearings and other meetings by videoconference
