Staff Attorney
Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC) has an opening at its Bethel office for a full-time Staff Attorney. This position will handle intake and casework for residents of the Yukon-Kuskokwim Region experiencing civil legal problems that affect their health, safety, and stability with special emphasis on domestic violence matters, issues that affect elders, like Medicaid eligibility, estate planning, and elder abuse, and issues affecting Alaska Native individuals and communities. In addition to intake and casework, duties include working closely with community partners and providing community legal education.
Admission to Alaska Bar or Alaska Bar Rule 43 waiver required. Information on Bar Rule 43 can be found at http://www.alaskabar.org (Alaska Bar Association website). Familiarity with cross- cultural situations and excellent communication and organization skills required. Computer proficiency required (Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail, and data entry).
