Staff Attorney
Legal Aid Services of Oregon (LASO) seeks a full-time staff attorney for its Albany Regional Office that serves Linn and Benton Counties.
BackgroundLASO is a non-profit organization that gives free legal assistance to low-income clients in civil cases. LASO’s eight regional offices serve the general low-income population throughout the state and two specialized statewide programs provide services to farmworkers and representation on Native American issues. There are currently 7 staff members in the Albany office, 3 part-time and 4 full-time positions. Work hours are 9AM to 5PM Monday through Friday, with occasional evening hours for community outreach.
ResponsibilitiesThe attorney will be responsible for maintaining a varied poverty related caseload emphasizing family law, administrative law and consumer law. The attorney is also expected to make community presentations and participate in outreach activities as assigned.
Salary/BenefitsSalary depends on experience. There is additional compensation for bilingual ability. Full benefits package including health insurance and 401(k) plan.
One to five years of legal experience preferred. Excellent legal skills and commitment to justice for low-income communities required. Current Oregon bar membership is required. The ideal candidate has strong interpersonal, stress management, electronic information management and organizational skills as well as a good sense of humor. Spanish language ability is preferred.
