The Project: Stay Housed L.A. is a new project to bring much-needed tenants’ rights resources to renters in Los Angeles County communities and may be the first step towards a “Right to Counsel” for tenants facing evictions. LAFLA’s Client Intake Workgroup, which supports Stay Housed L.A., handles intake for the multi-organizational coalition.
LAFLA is currently accepting applications for the position of Receptionist.
NOTE - All positions are subject to funding; ongoing funding or employment cannot be assured.
*Assigned location is subject to change during course of employment.
- One (1) year minimum experience as a receptionist or similar front-desk representative.
- Demonstrated ability to function within a high-volume and fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with individuals from diverse cultures with tact and sensitivity.
- Experience working with people who are in high stress situations.
- Excellent computer and data entry skills.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Answer telephone calls from potential clients and clients: assess a potential’s client needs, screen them for eligibility, and complete an intake application when appropriate.
- Provide information and referrals to potential clients we are not able to assist.
- Accurately and timely input potential client and client information into online databases.
- Schedule appointments and communicate via email and Microsoft Teams with colleagues and others.
- Perform other clerical duties, such as photocopying, scanning, and filing.
- Assist walk-in visitors and oversee the lobby and reception areas, as needed.

INTRODUCTORY PERIOD – A six-month introductory period will be required.
