LAFLA is currently accepting applications for the position of Intake Paralegal.
NOTE - All positions are subject to funding; ongoing funding or employment cannot be assured.
•A four (4) year college degree or Paralegal Certificate;
•One (1) year relevant work or volunteer experience preferred;
•Experience interviewing individuals in crisis and/or assisting individuals who have low-income in a service setting;
•Knowledge of immigration law strongly preferred;
•Excellent customer service and written and verbal communication skills;
•Self-motivated, organized, and ability to manage a high-volume caseload;
•Comfortable with case management systems and other technology and
•Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
•Deliver client-centered and trauma-informed assistance to clients experiencing a legal crisis with their immigration legalmatter;
•Interview, advise, and provide limited legal services to clients under the direct supervision of a licensed attorney;
•Maintain timely and organized case notes and files;
•Collaborate effectively as part of a team that includes attorneys, paralegals, support staff, volunteers, and students;
•Participate in community outreach projects as needed and
•Other duties as assigned.

VACCINATION POLICY AND COVID-19 PROTOCOLS - LAFLA requires all staff, including new hires, to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (i.e., at least 2 weeks after last dose) and have received at least one COVID-19 booster shot. If hired, all employees must present proof of vaccination by their start date.
