Paralegal II (Litigation Support Paralegal)
Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a full-time paralegal to help further its mission of providing equal access to justice for low-income and vulnerable individuals. The Litigation Support Paralegal assists the staff attorneys on the Housing Plus Team who have primary responsibility for assisting tenants facing evictions, HUD-assisted subsidy terminations, and fair housing issues. The Litigation Support Paralegal acts as a legal assistant to these attorneys, and the job duties of this position include drafting advice letters and court pleadings; gathering information and records from third parties; and conducting client interviews.

Responsibilities: Client interviews; drafting advice letters and court pleadings; assist in gathering information relevant to the client’s case; communicate with court staff; assist attorneys in file maintenance; and perform other duties as assigned.
Salary: Contingent on experience.

Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree or certificate program in paralegal studies; knowledge of legal terminology and legal communication principles and practices; familiarity with landlord/tenant law helpful, but not required; general competency in using a computer and working in Word and Excel.
