Paralegal (Fair Housing)

Description: 

Alaska Legal Services Corporation (ALSC) has an opening for a full-time (35 hours/week) paralegal in the Anchorage office, starting as soon as possible, to join the team that manages ALSC’s Fair Housing Project.

ALSC’s Fair Housing Project works to eliminate illegal housing discrimination and promotes equal access to housing by providing education, outreach, technical assistance, and enforcement opportunities specifically related to federal, state, and local fair housing laws. This position’s duties and responsibilities include: screening applicants; communicating with clients; preparation of legal documents; litigation support; paper and electronic file maintenance; and data entry.

Hourly wage $17.40 to $24.88 DOE. Generous benefits and leave package provided, including partial reimbursement of relocation expenses.

 

Requirements: 

High school diploma or equivalent level of education required, but college diploma preferred. One year experience as a paralegal, legal advocate, or legal support staff; or successful completion of a paralegal training program or similar academic certification is required. Knowledge of fair housing and other civil rights laws, as well as landlord-tenant law, is desirable. Familiarity with cross-cultural situations is preferred. Computer proficiency required (Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Internet, e-mail and data entry). Interested candidates should also have excellent organization skills.
