MIE Attorney for Training and Journal Program Development

Management Information Exchange (MIE) seeks an attorney with significant experience in civil legal services, management and training to join MIE. As envisioned in MIE’s recently adopted strategic plan, the attorney member of the staff will help to expand MIE’s capacity to assist the legal aid community’s efforts to enhance senior program leadership, board capacity, finance, administration, and program management, in activities such as the following:

• Provide leadership to the MIE Training Committee and implement MIE’s established cycle of leadership, management, administrative, financial, fundraising, and supervision training and conference offerings
• Provide leadership to the MIE Journal Committee and assist in the recruitment of volunteer authors and creation of content of quarterly journals
• Respond to legal aid organizations’ requests for consulting, training and program support services

This staff member will work closely with the MIE Executive Director to further define the activities and priorities of the new position, and to carry out the work of MIE as envisioned by the strategic plan. The position is expected to encompass sixteen hours of work per week.  Work may be carried out as an employee of MIE or as an independent contractor. Work location is flexible. Compensation to be negotiated.
 

Requirements: 

The successful candidate for this position:

• will be an attorney active in legal aid, on local, state and national levels
• will possess experience as a senior manager in a legal aid organization
• will have experience designing and delivering training
• will have been active in MIE as a volunteer, trainer, trainee, author, consultant or similar capacity
• will be able to travel to MIE events and consulting projects, post-pandemic
• will work independently while communicating frequently with MIE executive director, board, staff and committee members
• will have experience working with volunteers on projects with deadlines and deliverables
