LawHelpNY Content Manager

Pro Bono Net is seeking to hire a Content Manager for LawHelpNY. The Content Manager will report to the LawHelpNY Program Director. The ideal candidate is a bilingual professional with nonprofit and/or legal services experience and 2-3 years in related website content, digital outreach or new media experience. The Content Manager will be responsible for driving the content strategy for a statewide legal information website, developing content partnerships with members of the legal services community, designing new website content, tracking user analytics and developing usage reports.

LawHelpNY is a legal information website whose mission is to: "provide and promote access to: high-quality online information about free legal services throughout New York about legal rights in a broad range of substantive areas, about the court system, and about related advocacy, government and social service organizations.” LawHelpNY is committed to providing information that is user-friendly, in English, Spanish, and other languages, in order to help low-income and other vulnerable New Yorkers achieve equal access to justice.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Drive the content development and maintenance strategy for www.LawHelpNY.org and www.AyudaLegalNY.org.
  • Manage content of LawHelpNY’s websites, microsites and blog including regular updates, troubleshooting, editing, and reviews.
  • Develop, write and edit content that promotes LawHelpNY’s mission to help low-income and other vulnerable New Yorkers achieve equal access to justice.
  • Collaborate with legal services organizations to develop new website and social media content to address emerging legal needs among low income and vulnerable New Yorkers; train and engage content contributors to ensure high quality and engaging content. 
  • Prepare and assist in the preparation of written deliverables for grants, including summary reports, illustrative charts and data-tables.
  • Develop PowerPoint and other visual presentations for conferences, meetings and trainings on LawHelpNY’s content developments.
  • Develop tactics to engage users and increase traffic to LawHelpNY and AyudaLegalNY.
  • Analyze website, blog and social media analytics to measure effectiveness of campaigns and track against overall strategic goals.
  • Collaborate with other LawHelpNY team members, product manager and community stakeholders to identify user experience improvements and incorporate new approaches to engaging users with LawHelpNY’s legal rights resources
  • Supervise Access to Justice Technology Summer Legal Fellow

 

Requirements: 

Desired Qualifications:

  • 2-3 years relevant internship/work experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge/experience of website or blog CMS's, with basic to intermediate knowledge of HTML and CSS
  • Strong writing skills, including knowledge of plain language principles 
  • Familiarity with user-centered content design and content accessibility principles
  • Experience with digital outreach strategies, for example e-newsletters, social media platforms and basic SEO techniques
  • Knowledge of basic graphic design tools such as Canva or InDesign, and basic graphic design principles
  • Project management skills and experience with project management tools
  • Demonstrated experience with cross-cultural communication
  • Demonstrated self-reliance and ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven commitment to social justice and human rights
  • JD or advanced degree in a related field preferred
  • Experience overseeing multimedia projects preferred
  • Spanish written fluency preferred
