Community Legal Aid is a non-profit law firm that believes all individuals, including those who are impoverished, should have the opportunity to control, improve, and enrich their lives and the communities in which they live. Legal Aid advocates provide free civil legal help to low-income residents in eight counties in northeast Ohio.

Individual Giving Manager Job Description:

As part of the Communications & Development Team, the Individual Giving Manager is responsible for cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting new and existing donors. This role helps Legal Aid build a sustainable future by directly engaging with community members whose passion aligns with Legal Aid’s mission and work throughout our eight-county service region. This role will be critical in developing an organizational culture of philanthropy.

Role & Responsibilities:

Relationship management (60%): Lead stewardship and solicitation of individual donors, including supporting and managing other internal donor contacts, such as board and committee members, the Communications & Development Director, the Executive Director, and other staff members when appropriate.

Database management (15%): Manage Legal Aid’s relationship database, focusing on donor data inputs, maintenance, and reporting.

Campaign management (15%): Design and execute annual giving and other fundraising campaigns, including incorporation of multi-media strategies.
Donor cultivation (10%): In conjunction with the Director, design donor development strategy for continued growth of individual giving revenue.

Location: Akron

Reports To: Communications & Development Director

Salary: Depending on Experience. Excellent working environment and benefits.

Requirements: 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field
  • Trust and ability to work in organization with high standard of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Self-starter who is willing to jump into fast-paced environment and isn’t afraid to challenge themselves and learn on-the-job
  • Empathy and passion for helping others
  • Experience in fundraising/developing philanthropic relationships
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
