Housing Law Attorney Position
Gulfcoast Legal Services, a nonprofit civil legal aid provider, is seeking a full-time staff attorney to join our team. We are looking to fill one position in the Housing Law unit at our St. Petersburg office location. Hybrid remote work opportunities, 2-3 days a week, are available after completion of a 90-day probationary period. Fair housing experience preferred.
The staff attorney position involves a high degree of professionalism, advocacy, compassion, independence, and personal initiative. The successful candidate will provide a full range of high-quality legal services to individual clients and to client groups, including representation and administrative proceedings. The staff attorney will report to an experienced managing attorney.
Demonstrated Abilities
- Ability to work on various community projects with different partnering agencies.
- Ability to work independently and with attention to detail on all case matters.
- Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with people and clients in crisis.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality and work independently providing representation to clients in civil law matters.
Education/Experience Requirements
- A commitment to the provision of high-quality legal services.
- Juris Doctorate degree from ABA-accredited law school.
- Florida Bar membership and eligibility to practice law in the State of Florida.
- Prior experience as an attorney is a plus, with a preference for prior housing law experience. Law school clinical experience and/or internship will be considered.
- Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
- Fair housing experience preferred.
