Legal Aid Society has an immediate opening for a Grant Writer. The Grant Writer will research new local, state, and national grants and funding sources to support the organization’s work in 48 Tennessee counties. Write and edit new grant applications, compile supporting documents, submit and track grant proposals, coordinate with staff to submit grant reapplications. Develop and maintain relationships with funders. Assist Director of Development in fundraising activities, as possible. Legal Aid Society has eight offices that provide free civil legal services to 48 counties in Tennessee. Our attorneys and paralegals handle cases for low-income people in the fields of domestic violence, housing, consumer, federal income tax, health, social security, and special education. The Volunteer Lawyers Program refers financially qualified persons to volunteer private attorneys. For more information about LAS, visit www.las.org.

Requirements: 

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree, plus two to four years of documented experience in non-profit grant writing as well as supervision, administration, and/or management of grant processes. Applicants should have the ability to lead and execute the grant protocol. Proficiency with Microsoft Office software, and experience with Blackbaud products a plus. Applicants should have excellent written communication skills; ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals. Ability to manage multiple tasks, be organized, able to prioritize work, plan and problem-solve, meet deadlines and work well under pressure. Ability to work well in a team environment and independently, and establish effective working relationships with a variety of individuals. Must have driver’s license and access to transportation.
