Family Law Attorney Position (partially remote)

Gulfcoast Legal Services, a nonprofit civil legal aid provider, is seeking a full-time staff attorney to join our team. We are looking to fill one position in the family law unit to serve Manatee and Sarasota Counties. Occasional travel to our Pinellas County offices may be necessary. Hybrid remote work opportunities, 2-3 days a week, are available after completion of a 90-day probationary period

The staff attorney position involves a high degree of professionalism, advocacy, compassion, and independence. The successful candidate will provide a full range of high quality legal services to individual clients and to client groups, including representation in circuit court and administrative proceedings. The position reports to an experienced managing attorney.

Demonstrated Abilities

  • Ability to work on various community projects with different partnering agencies.
  • Ability to work independently and with attention to detail on all case matters.
  • Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with people and clients in crisis.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and work independently providing representation to clients in public interest law areas of family law.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • A commitment to the provision of high-quality legal services to the underserved.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from ABA-accredited law school.
  • Florida Bar membership and eligibility to practice law in the State of Florida.
  • Prior experience as an attorney a plus, with preference for prior family law experience. Law school clinical experience and/or internship will be considered.
  • Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Gulfcoast Legal Services is an equal opportunity employer.  Salary starting at $50,000/yr depending on experience.
