Family Law Attorney (Hybrid)

Greater Bakersfield Legal Assistance, Inc. “GBLA” is a 501 (c) 3 nonprofit organization whose mission is “to promote social change and justice by providing high-quality legal services to the low-income community.”   GBLA ‘s service area is Kern County, California.  It is the state’s third-largest county in land area. 

 

GBLA seeks an attorney to join our Family Law practice under the direct supervision of the Director of Litigation. The Family Law Attorney will focus on domestic violence (DV) and guardianship issues related to family dynamics. Provide trauma-informed legal services ranging from advice and referrals to full representation depending on the circumstances.

 

 

Requirements: 

Candidate must be an active member of the California State Bar of California or a member of the Bar of another state and willing to take the California Bar at the next available opportunity. The ideal candidate would have strong litigation skills in California courts and a thorough knowledge of California family laws.

 

The attorney applicant must have excellent analytical, organizational, and writing skills; strong oral and written communication skills; strong litigation skills in California courts; demonstrated commitment to public interest advocacy; a high degree of initiative and willingness to work collaboratively with others; demonstrated ability to supervise and provide leadership; ability to travel throughout the county; and bilingual capacity in Spanish is strongly preferred.

Compensation:

The anticipated salary range for this full-time exempt role is $90,000-$104,000 per year, with a final offer dependent on experience, job-related skills, and qualifications.

  • 0 to 2 years     2 weeks/ 10 days/ 6.25 hrs. per month
  • 2+ to 4 years   3 weeks/15 days / 9.375 hrs. per month
  • 4+ to 8 years   4 weeks/20 days/ 12.5 hrs. per month
  • 8+ years          5 weeks/25 days/14.42 hrs. per month
