Experienced Attorney

Description:

The Legal Aid Society of Greater Cincinnati is seeking a full-time experienced attorney to lead our nationally recognized medical legal partnerships. This position is based in our Cincinnati, Ohio office. Legal Aid is a non-profit law firm dedicated to reducing poverty and ensuring family stability through effective legal assistance. Legal Aid provides legal services in seven counties in Southwest Ohio.

Position Description

Our award-winning medical legal partnerships are the core of our Center for Health Equity and Advocacy Team. Our three strong and innovative medical legal partnerships are Child HeLP (Cincinnati Child Health-Law Partnership), M-HeLP (Maternal Health Law Partnership) and the HEN (Health Equity Network).  The attorney in this position will lead and coordinate initiatives to improve health outcomes and equity. The position involves collaboration and shared program management with hospital healthcare partners and coordination of an internal and on-site team of paralegal and attorney advocates.  Expertise and experience in housing or benefits advocacy will be an advantage because a significant number of referrals from the health-law partnerships involve housing or benefits concerns. Experience working with healthcare partners in a medical-legal partnership or other setting is preferred.

Legal Aid attorneys provide a full range of legal services to our client community. We represent clients in civil legal cases, as well as carry out advocacy for low-income groups to address poverty and promote equity. We participate with nonprofit agencies and other groups to improve public policy affecting low-income people. Legal Aid has four practice groups: Housing and Consumer; Income, Work, and Health; Family and Immigration; and Children and Education.
