Legal Services of Eastern Missouri seeks a Director of Development

We seek a dynamic and seasoned professional who is energized by the idea of expanding already strong fundraising areas including grants, annual giving and public events while building the agency’s strategy and activity in opportunity areas, including individual and major giving, planned giving and corporate partnerships. We’re looking for someone with the ability to expand our agency profile in the community.

The Director of Development: 

• Leads Legal Services’ fundraising efforts.
• Reports to the Executive Director as part of the senior leadership team.
• Works with the Board of Directors.
• Staffs the Board Development Committee.
• Manages three direct reports.

• Able to build trust and strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Loves donor cultivation, being out in the community, and telling the agency story.
• Organized, detail-oriented and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Interested in ongoing learning, can seek out and share new ideas.
• Passionate about social justice and the mission of Legal Services.
• Can provide leadership and support to development staff.
• Intends a long tenure with Legal Services.

Legal Services of Eastern Missouri advances justice through legal representation, education, and supportive services. We partner with the community to improve lives, promote fairness and create opportunities for those in need. Since 1956, Legal Services has provided high-quality civil legal assistance, holistic advocacy, and equal access to justice for low-income people in 21 counties in Missouri. We accomplish our mission through systemic advocacy/impact litigation and individual case work in a wide  range of civil legal areas currently in our priorities, including family law for victims/survivors of domestic violence,  prevention of homelessness/housing advocacy, access to healthcare and public benefits, consumer defense,  education rights, community economic development, and immigration. As part of our community education/ outreach efforts, Legal Services works with more than 150 community-based agencies, participates in more  than 35 task forces/coalitions, and has a vibrant Volunteer Lawyers Program. Legal Services has offices in St. Louis City, St. Louis County, Hannibal, and Union. Excellent benefits are offered:
90% of health insurance premiums for the employee plus 25% for family members. Starting Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000. Generous PTO: 21 - 30 days off accrued annually, plus 12 weeks paid parental leave. 403(b) and 401(a) retirement plans with annual profit-sharing contributions.

Flexible work environment:
