Director of Compliance Operations

Every day, people across Illinois are denied the basic rights to which they are entitled under the law simply because they can’t afford a lawyer. It’s our mission to change that.   PSLS is seeking an experienced, mission-driven leader to fill the role of Director of Compliance Operations. This role reports to the Executive Director and is responsible for the organization’s compliance operations including overseeing PSLS’ operations work as assigned and providing legal counsel to the organization and the Board of Directors. The ideal candidate is able to maintain a broad view of the needs of the organization, is detail oriented with a strong legal background, and is a process thinker. Requirements: 
• Responsible for  the design, development, and writing/updating/editing of organization program-wide direction, policies, procedures, goals, and systems • Responsible for contract review including reviewing, revising, drafting, and as appropriate negotiating  third-party contracts and subcontracts and all office leases for every PSLS office • Responsible for grantor and all other regulatory compliance • Represent PSLS’ interests when PSLS is a party or interested party in litigation or administrative proceedings • Leads the development of staff to ensure proficiency in their role and ability to advance within the organization • Sets annual goals for direct reports and ensures people managers within the department are setting goals for their staff that align with the organization’s strategic plan and provide performance consistency across programs • Communicates frequently with team members to build relationships and monitor performance • Attends all Board of Director meetings, prepares the board minutes, and oversees the organization of all Board resolutions and other Board action • Works with direct reports to provide decision-making support and ensure actions, policies, and processes for each team support the long and short-term strategies of the organization
