Deputy Executive Director
Legal Aid of Western Missouri is seeking a candidate to fill the position as Deputy Executive Director. This position assists the Executive Director in all administrative functions as assigned; handles cases and other client advocacy; and is responsible for the oversight of all Legal Aid branch offices (West Office, Municipal Court Office, St. Joe Office, Warrensburg Office and Joplin Office).
Additional responsibilities and duties for this position include, but are not limited to: acting as a liaison between all outlying offices and the central office; ensuring consistent, high quality, client centered services across offices; developing and implementing initiatives, policies, and procedures to enhance program services, productivity and effectiveness; acting as a facilitator and creator of the long term strategic plan; assisting in recruitment of attorneys and paralegals; assisting in planning and implementing fund raising, marketing and public relations strategies; oversight of training of staff attorneys and paralegals; assisting in compliance with all legal requirements and ensuring compliance with all LSC regulations; handling staff grievances, complaints, and disciplinary matters rising to the executive level as part of the Personnel Committee; assessing and managing the online legal research and printed/book subscription needs of the organization; attending the Board of Directors’ meetings to provide reports and recommendations to the Board as assigned; representing Legal Aid within the national, state and local justice community networks with the Executive Director; devoting time to case handling and other advocacy on behalf of clients; and all other duties and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.

Salary: $74,100 + DOE

The successful candidate must meet the following qualifications: has obtained a law degree; is licensed to practice law in Missouri; has a minimum of five years of practice, with a preference for at least three years of practice in poverty and/or civil rights law; substantial administrative experience; significant managerial and supervisory experience; strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; and a great sense of humor.
