Consumer Law Attorney Position

Gulfcoast Legal Services, a nonprofit civil legal aid provider, is seeking a full-time staff attorney to join our team. We are looking to fill one position in the Financial Stability Law unit at our Venice office location- 4242 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice, FL 34293. Remote work opportunities (2 to 3 days/ week) available after successful completion of a 90 day probationary period.

The staff attorney position involves a high degree of professionalism, advocacy, compassion, independence, and personal initiative. The successful candidate will provide a full range of high quality legal services to individual clients and to client groups, including representation and administrative proceedings. The staff attorney will report to an experienced managing attorney.

Demonstrated Abilities

  • Ability to work on various community projects with different partnering agencies.
  • Ability to work independently and with attention to detail on all case matters.
  • Ability to deal professionally, courteously, and efficiently with people and clients in crisis.
  • Ability to maintain client confidentiality and work independently providing representation to clients in civil law matters.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • A commitment to the provision of high-quality legal services.
  • Juris Doctorate degree from ABA-accredited law school.
  • Florida Bar membership and eligibility to practice law in the State of Florida.
  • Prior experience as an attorney a plus, with preference for prior consumer or housing law experience. Law school clinical experience and/or internship will be considered.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
