The position represents a unique opportunity to create cohesive and successful communications strategies while working alongside highly talented and motivated staff doing cutting-edge civil rights advocacy work. Reporting to the Legislative & Communications Director, the Communications Director promotes positive images of disability rights and Disability Rights California (DRC) in the media and with the public in order to further DRC’s goals. The Communications Director helps DRC provide effective advocacy and development information for consumers, advocates, media, and the public.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from four-year college or university in a relevant field such as such as communications, journalism, public relations or a related field or equivalent job experience; plus 7 years’ experience professional experience in areas such as media relations, and website and social media content development. Additional years of experience may be substituted for education.
- Three years’ supervision experience
