Attorney (Human Trafficking Survivors' Rights)
Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada is seeking a full-time Staff Attorney to provide creative and zealous advocacy and direct representation to human trafficking survivor clients in cases involving vacatur/record sealing, name changes, custody orders, protection orders, immigration assistance, dependency, credit issues, debt collection, and other areas of civil law. The attorney will expand outreach to children who are trafficked and implement ways to identify children vulnerable to being trafficked as well as implement a firm-wide protocol and training program regarding trafficked youth. The attorney will implement training on how to effectively interact with survivors of violent crime including human trafficking for the organization. The attorney will collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to combat human trafficking in Nevada, including additional outreach regarding availability of our services. Additionally, the attorney will engage in planning how services to survivors of human trafficking will be offered and integrated into the larger organizational structure of services being provided for victims of violent crime. The attorney will also assist in community outreach to educate the community on issues involving human trafficking. The attorney will be housed at the Vegas Strong Resiliency Center which is managed by Legal Aid Center.
The attorney also has the opportunity to advocate for statutory reforms to promote justice for human-trafficking survivors, guard against unfair legislation, and address critical and systemic issues impacting human-trafficking survivors and other survivors of violent crime. The attorney can also develop working relationships with policymakers and stakeholders at the local, state and federal level on survivors of crime issues.
Salary is dependent upon experience with annual increases available. Our excellent benefits start on date of hire and include:

The ideal candidate is committed to public interest law and community service and has the desire to work with and zealously advocate for our clients. At least 10 years of experience as an attorney is required for this position. Applicants should have some relevant policy experience as well. The ability to speak Spanish is always beneficial. The candidate must be a licensed attorney in good standing from any United States jurisdiction (Nevada offers special licensing for attorneys relocating to Nevada to provide legal services through Legal Aid Center.)
