POSITION: ADMINISTRATIVE COORDINATOR - Restoring Communities Workgroup   LOCATION: TBD   SALARY: $43,729.23/annual DOE, excellent benefits   AVAILABILITY: Immediately   APPLICATION DEADLINE: Continuous until position is filled.   The Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles (LAFLA) is the frontline law firm for low-income people in Los Angeles and is currently accepting applications for the position of Administrative Coordinator. LAFLA seeks to achieve equal justice for poor and low-income people in greater Los Angeles. We change lives through direct representation, systems change, and community education. Founded in 1929, LAFLA has approximately 123 employees. LAFLA has an operating budget of more than $16 million and operates five neighborhood offices and several off-site locations. Requirements: 
QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be computer proficient; has experience with Word, Excel, and Power Point; • Experience with court filings preferred; • Understanding of and commitment to social justice; • Good written and oral communications skills; • Demonstrated ability to work independently; • Ability to work collaboratively with all LAFLA staff, clients, and community organizations.   EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: • Prepares drafts of routine correspondence and other legal documents and court forms for attorney review; • Under the supervision of an attorney, conducts intake and handles cases that involve housing, immigration, family, government benefits law, and other criminal related legal issues; • Performs a variety of responsible administrative duties, such as maintaining electronic and hardcopy filing systems and generating reports, answering inquiries over the phone or in person, case management system data entry, and managing administrative details with minimum direction; • Works collaboratively with case managers, paralegals, and attorneys to provide holistic services and referrals; • Opens and closes intakes in real time; • Files legal pleadings with the court; • Trains law clerks and volunteers on administrative aspects of their job; • Coordinates logistic and administrative aspects of various projects, such as creating and maintaining clinic schedules; updating forms, brochures, templates, and Power Point presentations; and preparing/sending out materials; • Provides support in case preparation, such as drafting correspondence and trial preparation; • Participates in community outreach and education projects; and • Other duties as assigned.
