Administrative Assistant

**A RESUME AND COVER LETER ARE REQUIRED TO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION**

Essential functions: The administrative assistant will perform secretarial and administrative functions to generally support the work of the District Court Self Help Center of Baltimore, Maryland. Duties/Responsibilities: •Greet clients and visitors; answer multi-phone lines; take messages. •Enter information in mail log, sort and distribute mail. •Type general client information into a database. Type legal documents and general correspondence using word processing software in Windows environment. •Maintain general upkeep of unit computers, printers and copiers and keeping work areas neat and clean. •Responsible for data entry in database, opening transfer cases, opening/closing cases and typing monthly schedules. •Process jobs using copiers and fax machines. Organize brochures and printed materials pertaining to different legal issues. Contributes to updating printed materials. •Pick up office supplies, and maintain sufficient quantities of supplies throughout the office/unit. •Responsible for maintaining files, re-labeling file folders; organizing, shifting, adding and removing files as directed and as needed. Keep the file room neat and clean. •Perform all general office duties assigned by office manager and willing to perform other functions within the scope of employment to assist in the efficient operation of the office. •Provide temporary coverage for other administrative support positions as needed and assigned.

Requirements: 

Qualifications: A high school diploma and two years' experience in the legal field is preferred. Must be proficient with MS Office Suite products, have knowledge of office equipment, and have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain a professional demeanor in stressful situations. Spanish language proficient strongly preferred.
