WorkSharing State Summary Table
WorkSharing is an unemployment program that allows reduction of staff hours; the state treats the employees as being unemployed just for those hours and pays them unemployment benefits. In Massachusetts that means if you reduce hours by, for example, 10% , the state pays half the loss wages for those with salaries uup to $65,000 so staff only have salaries cut by 5%. This program is in place in 19 States as the attached summary shows.
