Financial skills are a necessary component of an effective leader in a legal aid organization. While an executive director need not be an expert in GAAP or other nuanced financial concepts, an understanding of the organization's financial position is essential to decision making and management. With this necessity in mind, MIE has assembled a discounted bundle of training sessions particularly relevant for a new executive director. The bundle includes presentation slides and session materials.

Session topics include:

• Annual Budgeting: Developing an Inclusive Process;
• Financial Statements 101;
• All About the Form 990;
• The Executive Director, Director of Finance, and Board of Directors Relationship;
• Preparing for an Audit; and
• Demystifying Operating Reserves.
   

Sessions are each roughly 1 hour in length, and were led by expert presenters at the 2023 Financial Essentials Training. The full training was recorded and is available for purchase here. If you attended the larger training, you already have access to these excerpted recordings in your account.

Each registration fee covers one participant.

MIE Subscribers: $150
Non-subscribers: $250

Registration Information & Policies
Registration fees are non-refundable. MIE will provide a credit for the full amount of the registration fee, which may be used by any staff at your organization for any future MIE events (trainings, conferences, webinars) or MIE subscription payments. Credits do not expire. An event registration may be transferred to a colleague at the same program prior to the start of the event at no additional cost. Please notify MIE of substitutions as soon as possible. If a registration transfer is not practicable, credit will be provided instead. Registrants who do not cancel before the start of an event will not be credited, however, they will receive access to the event materials.
