The New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty is a nationally recognized non-profit law firm engaging in systemic advocacy and impact litigation to advance social and economic justice. Learn more about us by visiting our web site at www.nmpovertylaw.org We are looking for a highly capable lawyer to join our staff in a full-time permanent position. The position is with our Labor Team, which is working on issues such as workers’ compensation for agricultural laborers, minimum wage and labor law enforcement. The work at the Center on Law and Poverty is varied, always challenging and highly rewarding. The work week is reasonable and the staff superb. We offer a reasonable non-profit salary and excellent benefits.

Requirements: 

Required: Law degree and license; at least three years of experience practicing law; excellent research, writing and legal advocacy skills; ‘no-stone-unturned’ thoroughness and persistence; leadership; ability to be articulate and forceful in the face of powerful opposition; ability to problem-solve creatively; detail-orientation; and very strong Spanish language skills. Preferred: familiarity with New Mexico, poverty or civil rights law and advocacy
