Program Director - Immigration Unit
We are seeking an experienced, dedicated and passionate attorney to direct our Immigration Unit. Our firm is recognized, locally and statewide, as a provider of high quality legal services to low-income immigrants in the greater Rochester area. We provide representation in the following areas: asylum, family based applications, removal defense, VAWA, SIJ applications, U and T visas, DACA and a variety of other immigration matters. You will manage a 4 person immigration unit providing staff supervision, training, mentoring and assisting with grant writing and fund development. The Unit Director will have the opportunity to be part of a team of professionals who have dedicated themselves to the mission at our firm, which is the provision of high quality civil legal services to low and moderate income litigants. Services include direct representation, legal counseling, community outreach, education and training.
· Must possess a Juris Doctor
· Admitted to the New York State Bar required. Bar admission in another state would need to seek admission to the New York State Bar.
· Five years of immigration law experience, including litigation cases in Immigration Court.
· Supervisory experience preferred, language fluency is a plus.
· The ideal candidate will possess a high level of organization and independence, legal research skills, strong negotiating ability, ability to think and speak quickly and accurately.
· Excellent writing skills, respect and consideration for clients and demonstrate the ability to work effectively with others in a team.
· Computer literacy and ability to work with an online case management system is required.
· Traveling is required.
