Pro Bono Coordinator

Description: 

ICLC is searching for a Pro Bono Coordinator to oversee our volunteer and pro bono efforts. The Coordinator will be responsible for placing pro bono matters, supervising interns and volunteers, developing and managing a wide range of volunteer projects and fellowship opportunities, developing and improving recruitment and training materials, and developing partnership opportunities with law firms, corporations, law schools, colleges, bar associations, and other organizations. The Coordinator will work closely with the program and development staff to manage ICLC’s relationships with some of the highest-profile law firms in the city. Last year, 372 volunteers contributed over 18,000 hours of service valued at over $5,300,000. Most of our current pro bono cases focus on slum housing litigation, eviction defense, and veteran benefits matters. The Coordinator is an integral part of our legal services team and works closely with ICLC’s Homelessness Prevention, Homeless Veterans, Housing Litigation, Tenant Organizing, Housing Policy, and HIV/AIDS projects to identify and pursue new pro bono opportunities related to housing or homelessness issues. May perform other duties as needed.

Requirements: 

Commitment to ICLC’s mission and values. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Innovative and solution-oriented. Leadership ability. Excellent organizational skills and ability to track cases, relationships, and outcomes in a sophisticated way. Ability to assume responsibility quickly and work independently and as part of a team. Ability to use good judgment, multitask and meet deadlines. Ability to work with a wide range of people in a kind and professional manner. Member of the California Bar and have practiced law for at least three years. Spanish language skills, public interest law experience, and past involvement with pro bono matters are preferred.
