Under the supervision of an attorney in Maryland Legal Aid’s Midwestern Maryland Office, the paralegal will administer the Frederick County Pro Bono Referral Program under the Community Foundation of Frederick County (CFFREDCO) grant project.
• Conducts pro bono intake interviews.
• Prepares case summaries and recruits attorneys to accept pro bono referrals.
• Keeps accurate daily statistics, attends Frederick County Pro Bono Committee meetings, and presents statistical data to group.
• Assists with and attends the Frederick County Pro Bono Day event(s).
• Provides community and institutional outreach and education thus increasing the amount of clients served under program. 

• Monitors pro bono case assignments, checking in with attorneys and clients throughout the case lifecycle.
• Offers creative suggestions to recognize attorneys for their time and commitment to the program.
• Prepares satisfaction surveys to attorneys and clients and tabulates responses.
• Performs litigation support such as preparing discovery, drafting pleadings, correspondence and other documents.
• Conducts factual investigation and legal research.
• Resolves problems of clients.
• Assists in or develops case theory and strategy for the representation of clients.
• Assists with administrative office functions as needed.
• Performs other duties, as assigned within the scope of the essential functions of the position.
