Managing Attorney

Description: 

The New Mexico Center on Law and Poverty is a nationally recognized non-profit law firm engaging in systemic advocacy and impact litigation to advance social and economic justice. We are seeking a Managing Attorney to manage 3 to 4 attorney-team leaders toward achieving very challenging goals in several program areas as well as engage in some program work him or herself. The position is directly responsible for maintaining a very high level of excellence in organizational performance. In order to succeed in this position, you will have to be an intellectual peer with some very smart attorneys; able to add value to strategic and tactical planning; detail-oriented and well organized; a highly competent advocate and litigator in your own right; and a skilled manager, able to support others to be their best while also ensuring accountability. The work at the Center on Law and Poverty is never routine, always challenging and highly rewarding. The work week is reasonable, the environment positive and the staff superb. Requirements: 

Requirements: law degree with at least ten years experience in plaintiffs’ litigation (preferably civil rights); a record of achieving systemic improvement through advocacy; a history of successful management; and a demonstrated commitment to addressing poverty and/or equal access to justice issues. Preferred: experience with administrative advocacy, familiarity with poverty law and the ability to speak Spanish.
