Legal Assistance of Western New York, Inc. (LawNY) has a position available for an IT Support Specialist to support and maintain the IT needs of the organization. LawNY is a not­for­profit law firm which provides civil legal services to low­income clients in a fourteen­county region in western New York State. LawNY serves the region through seven staffed offices located in Bath, Elmira, Geneva, Ithaca, Jamestown, Olean, and Rochester. LawNY provides representation primarily in the areas of housing, family law, government benefits, elder law, education, civil rights and consumer law. Region­wide, our staff of over 120 includes attorneys, paralegals, and a legal support team who work closely across areas of specialization to bring a holistic approach to addressing law related issues affecting our clients and community. The IT Support Specialist will initially work out of the Geneva office, but there is flexibility regarding placement. While remote support is available, travel to other LawNY offices will be necessary.

Description​: The IT Support Specialist will support and maintain in­house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals, includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. The IT Support Specialist will also troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training and assistance where required.

The IT Support Specialist will work with LawNY’s Technology Coordinator to develop expertise regarding technology innovations in legal services infrastructure and service delivery, analyze promising technologies, and recommend technologies that LawNY should implement. He or she will also assist the Technology Coordinator in technology grant writing, technology planning, setting technology business objectives, technology project management, and technology­related reporting.

Responsibilities and Duties

● Provide helpdesk support and services to LawNY staff

● Troubleshoot and maintain Windows server environment

● Troubleshoot and maintain LAN and WAN networks

● Resolve hardware/software/networking issues remotely

● Provide first level support with Polycom phones

● Coordinate service requests with onsite technology responsible persons

● Devise and execute plans for hardware and software upgrades/rollouts

● Create and maintain network and systems documentation

● Other duties as assigned

Requirements: 

Qualifications

● Received an Associate’s or technical degree; bachelor's degree preferred

● At least two years of experience in user training and support

● Proficiency in Windows applications, Microsoft Windows/Server/Office, GoogleApps, internet/Intranet and networking

Salary:​ Dependent on experience, and will increase annually based upon LawNY's salary scale. The salary for a candidate with two years of experience is $40,500. LawNY provides an excellent health, disability and benefits package.
