Information Technology Director

Legal Aid of Nebraska is seeking an Information Technology Director to provide leadership and ensure the direction, coordination, integration, and implementation of all technology needs for its statewide offices.  This position requires evaluating, recommending, and implementing new and present technology solutions to support the operations of the home office and all satellite offices.  This position’s responsibilities also range from strategic and long range technology planning to trouble shooting and repairing everyday issues company wide.   Legal Aid of Nebraska is a not-for-profit law firm that provides free civil legal services to low-income and elderly persons throughout Nebraska.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Forecasts requirements and direction for the IT future of the Legal Aid offices across the state.
  • Collaborate with the management team, office managers, staff and external partners to establish an affordable yet stable IT environment.
  • Establish and recommend budgetary requirements to the Management Team.
  • Propose best IT solutions that both ensure the stability of the infrastructure and stay within budgetary constraints.
  • Set policies, protocols, system standards, and operating procedures for all end users.
  • Establish policies and plans for the system architecture, security, disaster recovery, purchasing, and all IT service contracts.
  • Work with advocacy staff to develop strategies and plans to enhance client services, improve user effectiveness, and foster innovation.
  • Systematically plan for the development and implementation of new efficient and effective technology that will maximize Legal Aid’s resources and other external resources.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade, and support of all IT systems to include all IT equipment, software, and telephones.
  • Perform system upgrades, installations, conversions, and file maintenance throughout the network.
  • Perform daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly network backups.
  • Manage the security and updates of all equipment and software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues on the network and for end users.
  • Establish and utilize a ticketing system that will track all work tickets, equipment and software inventory, and run reports for the Management Team.
  • Explore, evaluate, and implement innovative cost-cutting IT solutions.
  • Explore, recommend, evaluate, and manage all new and present technology vendor contracts.
  • Conduct regular staff training.
  • Assist in preparing reports including client data reports.
  • Remain current on IT department training.
  • Travel to all Legal Aid offices to assess technology needs and provide staff training.
Requirements: 

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in appropriate field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • IT Network Certifications preferred.
  • Preferred 7 years experience in a Microsoft environment to include Servers and Switches.
  • Preferred 5 years experience managing an IT department.
  • Ability to lead, plan and mange a team oriented yet fiscally challenging environment.
  • Ability to train end users in all facets of software and equipment.
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team atmosphere.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Must be able to communicate, written or orally, to various end user skill levels.
  • Basic understanding of HTML and website development and maintenance.
  • Proven ability to negotiate and manage vendors and consultants.
