HCC Hotline/Intake Attorney
NLSLA is seeking a Hotline/Intake Attorney for the Health Consumer Center (HCC) for its Pacoima office. The Hotline / Intake Attorney will staff a consumer assistance hotline, conduct intake and maintain an active caseload. The Attorney will be expected to maintain expertise on a range of health care access issues affecting low-income individuals including eligibility, access to care, affordability with emphasis on managed care delivery systems issues. Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin is required. Compensation: $52,587 - $83,845 - Commensurate with experience. Duties and Responsibilities: Manage a caseload of health advocacy cases performing intake and case management, negotiation with health plans, legal research, and preparation for plan grievances and administrative hearings. Minimum Qualifications: Capacity to handle constant client contact and dedication to public interest work. Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with moderate supervision. Excellent interpersonal and computer skills and an ability to problem-solve and patience/sensitivity with people in crises. Qualified candidates must be licensed to practice law in California and have strong communication skills (oral/written). Bilingual speaking, reading and writing skills in English and Mandarin required; Experience working with low-income individuals and families preferred. Experience with health and benefits advocacy desirable.
