Organizational Overview

The Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County is dedicated to equal justice for low-income residents of Santa Barbara County. Over the past few years, the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County has grown in stature with the receipt of the Sargent Shriver Civil Counsel Act grant and National Mortgage Settlement Funds. As a result of the receipt of these funds, LAFSBC has increased the number of low income clients it has been able to assist, providing legal assistance to over 800 families in 2013 and providing legal assistance, education and information to over 4000 households at our Legal Resource Centers (Self Help Centers). The Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County provides core services in the areas of domestic violence and elder abuse prevention, landlord/tenant law, guardianships and conservatorships and public benefits at three different locations throughout the county, Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, and Lompoc. Additionally, the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County staffs three Legal Resource Centers located in the same three cities at the local court houses.
