Description: 

Wisconsin Judicare, Inc., an Equal Opportunity Employer, has an immediate opening for the position of Executive Director in its central office located in Wausau, Wisconsin.

 DESCRIPTION:  Wisconsin Judicare is a legal services program with a $1.9 million annual budget that provides civil legal services to low income persons in 33 predominately rural northern Wisconsin counties.  Wisconsin Judicare utilizes a mixed delivery system including a Judicare panel of approximately 176 private attorneys compensated by the program to represent eligible clients and a staff of 8 attorneys in a central office.  It is the oldest and largest Judicare program in the country.  Wisconsin Judicare also has an Indian law component.  Attorneys appear in federal, state, and tribal courts and before administrative agencies.  Funding for the program is primarily from the Legal Services Corporation.

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Overall administration and management of the program:  including regulatory compliance, personnel management, fundraising, delivery systems management, and supervision of fiscal management and litigation.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Substantial legal, litigation, administrative, and management experience as well as computer literacy are desirable.  Admitted to practice law in Wisconsin or eligible for admission.  Commitment to legal services for the poor is essential.
