Director of Development and Public Relations

Description: 

Legal Aid Center of Southern Nevada, a non-profit, public interest law firm, is seeking a Director of Development and Public Relations. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the planning and execution of the organization’s development strategy, building key relationships and interacting with the public in marketing, communications and outreach efforts. This position will develop, maintain and improve diverse revenue streams and partnerships in support of programs and budget goals. The person will serve as member of the management team of the organization.

Requirements: 

Preference is given to those with five years of individual giving/major gifts experience who possess a strong working knowledge of the Las Vegas, Nevada area philanthropic community or to an Attorney with experience working with access to justice issues and the ability to help build a development program. Identifying local, state and federal grant opportunities and grant writing and management will be core functions of the position. Experience with all types of communication including web and social media presence will be beneficial. Specific Requirements Include: • Bachelor’s Degree; and/or J.D. or CFRE credential preferred. • Minimum of five years of experience in a nonprofit fundraising role with a proven track record of major gifts success and a strong working knowledge of strategy development • Highly effective interpersonal, conversational and presentational skills, in tandem with, excellent writing abilities and strong program development and passionate community outreach skills. • Demonstrated expertise in developing and maintaining positive relationships with diverse individuals, including executives, high-level volunteers and donors, as well as, internal stakeholders and leadership. • Communication and management style that fosters team relationships and effectively communicates information. • Experience working independently in a fast-paced environment without extensive administrative support and exceptional organizational abilities with fluency in managing multiple projects and competing priorities with professionalism and grace. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and hands-on experience with donor management software; experience collecting and reporting activity for grant requirements. The successful candidate will be responsible for ongoing and proactive relationship management, strategic communication plans, gifts cultivation and solicitation activity. In this role, the Candidate will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gift donors and future prospects.
