Development Manager
Equip for Equality, a 30 year old nationally recognized, innovative social justice organization for people with disabilities, seeks a full-time Development Manager for its Chicago office. The Development Manager will be the lead staff person for annual giving (individuals), prospect research/grant writing, donor communications and special events.
Reporting to the Director of Development and Communications, the Development Manager will be part of a small but strategically-focused, entrepreneurial development office that aims to significantly increase support from individual donors and foundations. The Development Manager will have ownership of the following roles:
Build the base of individual support, including testing strategies, outreach to different constituencies, mail appeals and online/social media, database management and donor recognition; maintain the grants calendar, including prospect research and some grant-writing; develop donor-centered communications (e-newsletters, e-alerts, social media, promotional pieces), and manage and support special events.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced development professional or have a Master’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or business with strong organizational skills and a passion to join a rewarding profession with rich opportunities for learning and advancement.
