Development Director

The Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland (PBRC) has an immediate opening for a full-time Development Director. We are seeking a dynamic, skilled professional with development and related marketing experience in the nonprofit sector to engage in a new fundraising initiative. Relationships in and knowledge of Maryland’s legal community will be very helpful. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is also a team player, highly organized, and personable with excellent communication skills.

The Development Director will develop and oversee the annual campaign; assist with grant-writing and grant administration; set up a systematic corporate giving effort; maintain the donor database, and occasionally coordinate special events. The Director will work with board members and staff to identify and cultivate donor prospects and recognize gifts. Salary commensurate with experience; excellent benefits.

Primary responsibilities:

1. Develop and implement a consistent strategy to expand annual, individual giving campaign, including but not limited to direct mail and social media, and build on existing donor base;

2. Work with the Executive Director to nurture current foundation relationships, identify new foundation prospects, and assist with grant-writing;

3. Develop and manage targeted law firm and corporate fundraising efforts;

4. Create and maintain systems for tracking current and prospective donors in all categories: individuals, foundations, government agencies, law firms, corporations, etc.;

5. Assist in marketing PBRC programs and services to increase donor support;

6. Assist in developing fundraising goals for organization;

7. Staff the Board’s Development Committee; and

8. Coordinate occasional special events for fundraising and friend-raising purposes.

The Pro Bono Resource Center of Maryland (PBRC) is a statewide non-profit organization whose mission is to advance equal access to justice in Maryland by coordinating and supporting volunteer civil legal services, providing resources and support for legal advocates for the poor, and promoting cooperation within the legal community. PBRC also incubates projects targeting specific areas of urgent need facilitating direct services to those most severely impacted.

Requirements: 

Qualifications:

 Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fundraising;

 Strong writing skills, with experience writing donor request and grant proposals; etc.;

 Computer literacy, including competency with MSWord, Excel, websites, and database management;

 Proven ability to work with and motivate volunteers; and

 Strong commitment to helping the community and ensuring equal access to justice.
